Set priority in your work

Priority is only a matter of ability to recognize the level of urgency in each task that you meet. Its importance is based on the reality that we only have a limited time in life. Whatever tasks that you have you will always have a 24 hours time in the day.

Prioritize is your key to success, mainly in these busy days. Prioritize enable you keep your most important thing in life done. You will not feel overwhelmed and stress with the long list of work that you get. All you have to do is just select which is the most critical among the tasks and focus to its completion. 

To enable you prioritize well, you can check a few tips below :

  1. Recognize your function in the organization. Find out what your main role that counts to the function of the organization. You usually can find your function on your job description. It is a sequence of tasks that cause you are paid in that organization. You should focus your time and resource for these tasks.
  2. Convert your job description into a goal. You could turn your job description into a clear and specific goal. If you are a sales person and your job description is “selling product” then your goal will be “sell 10 items per week”

You should set the goal clearly. It will help you determine any actions towards its achievement. If the goal is vague then you will be difficult to determine any specific action to achieve it.

The goal is the most important part in prioritization. The goal creates you a border between the tasks that you should do, must do or nice to do. You will know the level of priority of each task by comparing it with your goal, whether or not it counts to your goal achievement. The goal becomes your standard in assessing each task that you meet.

  1. Turn the goal into a list of tasks. These tasks are a sequence tasks that will bring your goal into reality. This is your guidelines in your priority. You should focus the resource for these tasks completion. You could eliminate and refuse any tasks that do not belong to the list.

The list should be your main priority. All of the resource should be directed to its completion. The list is about realizing your better future in any field of your life not only in your work nut more in your family, your study, your business or your relationship.

  1. Learn how to say no. You need to save your own tasks. Refuse any tasks from the others if it do not relate to your goal achievement. Concentrate fully to your own task completion. Tell him that you have an important task to complete, any deadline or limit to fulfill and the aim that you need to achieve.

Tell it politely and explain your objection clearly. If they insist tell that you will help after you complete your own tasks. People usually will not want to wait longer. They wil forget it and try find another one.
